Urban Regeneration

Urban Regeneration

Through Quintain's Urban Regeneration activities which are focused on London, the Company aims to generate capital growth and profit through the development and long-term ownership of two major new urban estates. By retaining an interest in the estates, Quintain benefits from ground rents, management fees and commercialisation activities.

London Marketplace

The Company's two principal schemes at Wembley City and Greenwich Peninsula share three unique characteristics:

  • The potential to deliver residential and commercial development in London, where the supply of large-scale plots of land is severely restricted and demand is supported by positive long-term demographic and economic trends
  • Excellent transport connections
  • Major anchor leisure destinations: Wembley Stadium, Wembley Arena and the O2.

London is one of the world's leading global cities, ranking second on the Global Cities Index, which rates cities according to: business activity, human capital, information exchange, cultural experience and political engagement. PricewaterhouseCoopers and the United Nations have forecast that London will have the most meaningful rise in GDP in Europe by 2025 with an estimated rise of 45%.

Greater London's population of over seven million is set to grow by an average of 100,000 people per annum and it receives an additional 27m visitors every year. It stretches over 607 square miles, with some 3.3m homes. Its central business districts provide some 200m sq ft of offices. It has internationally acclaimed retail supported by world-class leisure and cultural facilities. It is serviced by three major and two smaller international airports.

Linked to central London by the Jubilee line, with great transport connections and easy access to airports, Quintain owns or has development rights over 275 acres of land at Wembley City and Greenwich Peninsula. With 22m sq ft of planning consents, Quintain has the potential to provide over 15,500 residential units at a time when London has a severe shortage of housing, with homes needed for some 1.5m people. These new communities will be enriched by more than 5.0m sq ft of office development as well as 4.3m sq ft of retail, leisure and other uses, unlocking significant local economic development opportunities.
