Non-Executive Director (independent)

Aged 57, Joan MacNaughton was appointed as a non-executive Director of the Group in January 2004.

Joan is Senior Vice President, Power and Environmental Policies, Alstom Power Systems. Prior to that, Joan worked for the Civil Service, latterly as Director General, International Energy Security in the DTI, having joined that Department in January 2002 as Director General, Energy. In 2004 and 2005, she was elected chair of the Governing Board of the International Energy Agency. She is an Honorary Fellow of the Energy Institute, visiting Senior Research Fellow at Oxford Institute of Energy Studies and Member of the Board of Governors, Argonne National Laboratory University of Chicago.

Joan is Chairman of the Group’s Donations Committee and a member of the Audit, Remuneration and Nominations Committees.
